As of July 1, 2011, the Commission on Fire Prevention and Control is involved in an agency consolidation with the newly-created Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection.   The Connecticut Fire Academy presents the 2012 Fire Service Instructor Development Seminar Saturday March 10, 2012 8:30-4:30. The presentation is entitled Sixteen Alternatives to Death by PowerPoint delivered by Howard Cross, of Howard Cross Associates.

  The next scheduled Seminar Series is titled Vent, Enter, Search in Today's Fire Buildings scheduled for Friday February 3, 2012. The seminar is presented by Captain Michael Dugan from FDNY.

2012 NFA Direct Delivery classes at CFA
  The Connecticut Fire Academy in cooperation with the National Fire Academy presents three two day courses through the National Fire Academy’s direct deliveries program. Two of these programs have fire marshal credits available.

NFPA releases New Scald Prevention Tip Sheet
  The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors is urging the public to be cautious when handling hot liquids and soups. Scald burns are the second leading cause of all burn injuries and children, older adults and people with disabilities are especially at risk.

2012 Connecticut Fire Officer's Weekend
  Applications are now available for the 2012 Connecticut Fire Officer's Weekend at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland March 23, 24 & 25, 2012. Applications must be submitted by Friday February 17, 2012.

2012 Introduction to the Fire Service
  Connecticut Fire Academy announces the 2012 Introduction to the Fire Service. This exciting program will focus on introducing youth ages 14-17 to the Fire Service.

Commission Receives Donation to Support Training Program
  At the November 29, 2011 meeting of the Commission on Fire Prevention and Control Alyce DeAngelo, CPCU, API and Director, Good Works Committee for the Connecticut Chapter of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters presented a donation in the amount of $1,000 for the purchase of a television set with built in DVD player and training foam used in training offered by the Commission’s Connecticut Fire Academy.
