1. Educational Resources

The Office of Pollution Prevention (P2 Office) has displays, kits and games that you can borrow as well as fact sheets, case studies and brochures on pollution prevention topics. You can also subscribe to our free quarterly newsletter, P2 View.

Displays, kits and games may be borrowed for one week, depending on availability. Call well in advance of your event to reserve them. They must be picked up and returned to DEEP offices at 79 Elm Street, Hartford, CT. You are responsible for loss or any damage to the display. 
Displays cannot be loaned out of state. Content is appropriate for middle school through adult audiences.

{Recycling display}

  • Reducing Toxics at Home - Learn about environmentally preferable and homemade alternatives to toxic household products.  Contains display case and props (e.g. empty containers of typical household items such as cleaners and home improvement products.) Training presentations available for Under the Sink and On the Workbench
  • Choose Organic Land Care – Explains what is meant by organic land care with basic information and resources for consumers and towns. Includes pictures of four CT towns that are using organic land care techniques on their playing fields.
  • Disposal of Prescription Medicines - Describes the proper way to dispose of consumer medications. Also available in Spanish.
  • Composting at Home -  4 panel display provides information on the benefits of composting, how to get started, and using your compost. 
  • A Green Home is a Healthy Home - Teaches about how to prevent pollution while saving money and having a healthier home using multiple choice question and answer format.
  • Green Building - Illustrates the use of the increasing number of environmentally friendly building materials available such as flooring materials, counter tops, roofing tiles, carpet and decking. Samples of products are included.
  • How Recycling Benefits Connecticut - Focuses on the many ways recycling benefits the environment and economy, with examples like trees saved, barrels of oil conserved, etc. 
  • Recycling Hits The Runway - Stage your own recycled fashion show! This kit contains a sample script and some accessories and clothing made from recycled materials. 
  • Recycling Match Game - Match the objects in the recycling bin to the products they can be recycled into. 
  • Trash Detectives Game - Could that item you put in the trash have a better use? Could it be recycled, composted or reused in some way? Find out using this game!
