Special Notice to DSS Clients about Phone Access

Please be advised that we are experiencing technical problems with access to our telephone Benefits Center.


Our main Client Information Line (interactive voice-response system) continues to be available at 1-855-6-CONNECT on a 24/7 basis.  However, callers are unable to choose the option of speaking directly to a DSS eligibility services worker in our Benefits Center during business hours.


At all times, DSS clients and applicants can go online to apply for or renew benefits, report changes, and use a service eligibility pre-screening tool (www.connect.ct.gov or www.ct.gov/dss).  Callers to 1-855-6-CONNECT can access the Client Information Line and use the interactive voice-response system check on benefits and other self-service options.  All 12 DSS field offices are also open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays (for locations: www.ct.gov/dss/fieldoffices). 


While direct phone access to DSS eligibility services workers is temporary limited, the agency continues to process all documents submitted online, via mail, and in person.


We apologize for any inconvenience and are doing everything possible to restore the Benefits Center phone service as quickly as possible.  We appreciate your patience and encourage the use of our online service options, interactive voice-response system and office visits while we address Benefits Center telephone situation.  Thank you.

Our automated ‘interactive voice response’ telephone system will help DSS clients get the information you need without waiting to speak to an eligibility worker. You will also have the option of speaking to a worker, if you choose, during business hours.
Please use this, toll-free service instead of the local DSS numbers you have been using. This Client Information Line service is available 24/7. You can also connect directly to a worker in our Benefits Center by following the phone menu prompts, Monday through Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The Benefits Center is staffed with workers dedicated to answering your questions, processing change requests and providing you with information about other resources.
