Program Description

This program provides a grant to municipalities that modify or purchase, install and utilize a computer system for the appraisal of real property, assessment administration and tax collection for a revaluation of property in the municipality. The grant monies may be used for purchase or development of computer hardware and software, and the training of municipal personnel in the proper use of the system. Grant amounts range from $27,500 to $66,000 based upon the population of the municipality.

Program Objective Statement

To provide grants-in-aid to eligible towns to improve municipal assessment and tax collection practices by developing or modifying a state approved CAMA System for the purpose of revaluation, assessment administration and property tax billing, including the training of town personnel in the proper use of such System. (A CAMA System is the process of using a computer to help assessors update property values and keep them up-to-date for ad valorem tax purposes.)
