Governor’s Inaugural Ball Committee Announces
Master of Ceremonies, Musical Entertainment
The Inaugural Ball Committee today announced that Dennis House, WSFB Eyewitness News anchor, will be the Master of Ceremonies at the Governor's Inaugural Ball. The Inaugural Ball for Governor M. Jodi Rell will be held at the Connecticut Expo Center in Hartford beginning at seven o'clock in the evening January 3rd, 2007. The gala event is a tradition for the State of Connecticut since 1791.
"Dennis House will bring his love and enthusiasm for Connecticut to this most special evening," said Catherine Marx, the Inaugural Ball Committee Chair. As Master of Ceremonies, Dennis House will guide the traditional program of Connecticut leaders being presented to the attendees of the ball with military escort and music.
“Since the 18th century, the people of Connecticut have been celebrating the election of governors, and January 3rd, 2007, will mark the first inauguration of the 21st century,” said Dennis House. “I am truly honored to be a part of an important night in the history of our great state, and I thank Governor Rell for including me.”
House is a native New Englander and Emmy Award-winning journalist, who co-anchors Eyewitness News at 6 and 11 on WSFB. He and his wife, Eyewitness News anchor Kara Sundlun, are very much involved in the renaissance of the capital city, along with many charities which Governor Rell also supports.
The Inaugural Ball Committee also announced that the Connecticut-based band Tirebiter will perform for the gala event. Tirebiter’s dance grooves and superb harmonies are not new to political events; the band has previously performed at Governor Rell’s birthday celebrations. Tirebiter was voted "Best Classic Rock," Best Rock Covers," and the "Best Band Period" from 1994 -1996 and "Number One" in 1998 from polls of the Hartford Advocate.
"Tirebiter will really get the party started,” said Catherine Marx. “It’s going to be a great evening of food, fun, music and, of course, pageantry and tradition.”
The Inaugural Ball of 2007 is open to the public. Tickets may be purchased by individuals and corporations. Members of the public can get Inaugural Ball and ticket information by calling 860-524-4967; or by visiting the Inaugural Ball website at www.ct.gov/inauguralball; or by writing to:
